Guitar Delivery
To say that we (read I) have done a particularly poor job of keeping MacKenzie & Marr customers appraised of the delivery status of their outstanding orders would be an understatement of monumental perprortions. Initially we thought it was pretty neat to have a backlog of orders - kind of like the Apple Computers of solid wood guitars. Eventually it dawned on us that there was a small difference between Apple and MacKenzie & Marr Guitars. When Jobs & Co said a new product would arrive in store on a specific date that's what happened. When we expected, and promised a delivery date we rarely delivered on time.
For someone interested in the ups and downs of our first full year the whys of the neverendum guitar delay may have some interest. For those of you waiting for a guitar the reasons are a whole lot less compelling. You simply want to know when your guitar will be in your hands. After returning from the factory earlier this month I think I have the answers. We've been wrong before but baring a last minute hitch we're now confident enough to post a weekly delivery update by model. You'll find it on our Delivery Update page. We'll post the current status each Monday.
Tofino Owners - We'll send you a set of D'Addario EXP strings
If you're the owner of a Tofino we'd like to ask for some help. The most influential feature of our web site is the reviews section on each individual guitar page. In other words your input! Visitors are vitally interested in your impressions of your guitar. We want to encourage as much community feedback as possible so by way of a thank-you we're going to send a set of D'Addario strings to each Tofino owner who takes time to rate their guitar (clicking on the one to five star rating) and provide feedback for others. The link to the page is here. To qualify you need to give your guitar a star rating (we hope it's high but please be honest) and write a brief review.
For the time being we're limiting this promo to Tofino but if it's well received we'll extend it to cover all guitars. Only registered owners can rate their guitars. If you don't see the five star option after logging in let me know. I'll chase down the bug.
Everyone who has taken time over the last year to rate and review their guitar will also be receiving a set of strings - and our belated thanks!
Spring Lefty Sale
Sometimes we goof. Take the flood of requests we received for a left handed guitar last year. We thought we had a whole lot of potential business in the left handed guitar market and had the factory produce a modest dozen. Scroll forward to today. We've sold a grand total of 3. That's three as in trois, tre, etc. Stalling out at 25% sales rate has left us a bit north of the southpaw market. On top of our stellar lack of success the factory (as some of you may remember) produced another 36 cutaway left handed guitars. We may have cornered the entire world market in lefties. Time to see them find a good home. If you or someone you know plays like Paul McCarthy hie on over to our Southpaw Sale and take advantage of our overstock.
Thanks to everyone who has helped MacKenzie & Marr get from an idea to a full fledged guitar company. Last year was a challenge but worth every moment. The coming season looks extremely bright with some more surprises in the next few months. Stay tuned.
Best to all,
John and Jonathan
