Our Solid Wood Acoustic Guitars
All MacKenzie & Marr guitars are crafted from solid premium woods. Because we offer our instruments directly to musicians - we have no distributors or dealers - we can afford to use nothing but the best materials in building our guitars. We guarantee you'll love your MacKenzie & Marr guitar or we'll take it back...no questions asked.
Summer Wages Series
In a very short time our iconic Cedar top / Mahogany back and sides solid wood guitars have won praise for sound quality and playability. From the initial model, Tofino, we have expanded the line to include Dionisio, a cut-a-way body. We wanted to give the guitars an identity - a name that would evoke images of Canada's west coast. At the same time, we wanted to pay tribute to a great Canadian songwriter. "Summer Wages" struck a chord with us. Click on the image to view the models in this series.

The Legends Series
Ten years ago Ian Tyson was kind enough to endorse a guitar we created to enhance his style of play our "Legends" series was born. The Ian Tyson Limited Edition - now sold out - was our first Legends guitar. Since then we've (in our own humble opinion) outdone ourselves with the re-birth of one of the classic guitars of the acoustic folk era - Tom Rush's Naked Lady - and the arrival of our very special Florentine cutaway - the new Ian Tyson Inspiration

Rediscovering Small Body Guitars
From the mid 19th Century until the 1930s, guitars were very personal - easy to play and handle. The rise of the guitar as part of Jazz ensembles, as accompaniment for street performers and on large concert stages led to the need for greater and "boomier" projection - which meant larger bodies and a certain loss of intimacy.
Now in the early part of the 21st Century we're re-discovering the beauty of smaller "OO" and parlor guitars. Thanks to modern electronic sound enhancement they work equally well in smaller rooms and large open venues.
