Dionisio X Cedar top CutawayThe fit and finish on this MacMarr Dioniso is beautiful. It is well made with a warm and sustained tone. It is my first cedar top and did not know what to expect but I love it. I advised MacMarr prior to the end of my 7 day return that I would not be returning it. That’s how impressed I was with this guitar!
It took a few days for the guitar to stay in tune but that is to be expected since you have to give the wood time to acclimate to the new temperatures and new strings to “stretch”. I have other high end guitars (Taylor, Martin, Breedlove, Eastman) for which I paid much higher prices but put this guitar right up there with them. The tone woods are mixed between spruce tops with mahogany or rosewood back and sides and one all mahogany. All look great, sound great but cost two and three times the price of the MacMarr Dioniso.
I wish I had discovered MacMarr sooner! I emailed them shortly after receiving the guitar as I had a couple of questions and the LR Bags adjustment tool and the clear pick guard were missing. John Marr replied, answering my questions, stated his apologies and that the missing items would be sent to me ASAP.
My next 12 string will likely be a MacMarr Algonquin.
