I started looking for a 70th birthday guitar about 6 months ago. I was mostly looking in the $2,000-$4,000 range and nearly bought a gorgeous Furch. I loved everything about it but the neck. I had to face the fact that Furch's shallow v neck just didn't work for me. Makenzie & Marr had been on my radar but the models I was attracted to had a 1 11/16 nut and I need 1 3/4 for my big fat fingers. Although I had my qualms about a 00 size guitar the reviews of the Baby Boat and the 7 day trial convinced me to try it. Well, I have no 00 regrets. My Baby is beautiful to look at, a joy to play and sounds exquisite. While she plays soft finger style with wonderful depth and fullness I can drive her Adirondack top as hard as I please with no distortion or muddines she just sings loud and clear. Volume was a concern but when I dig in she's as loud as some dreds I've played. If you're thinking about a MacKenzie & Marr but are on the fence I recommend you get off that fence and place your order. They give you a week to decide, it took me about 3 minutes.
